The show was just as good, if not better than Pontiac. Well, we got to the Odeon at like 6:30. The tickets said 8 (didnt specify whether that was doors or the actual start time of the show). Whatever, point is, we were the first ones there...which was odd considering we got to the pontiac show really early and there were already like 50 people waiting. When we got into the club miss heap was standing right there. Trent and I went up to her and chitchatted for a bit, and then i asked her if she would play Getting Scared, because i really wanted to hear that song live. She gave a cute little smile and said she would think about it. So, we grabbed a table (ick, tables AGAIN..mooo) right in front of the keyboard. Moo, i really liked the piano at the 7th house, i wish they had one there. But oh well, it sounded damn good for a kurzweil:) Anyways, so when imogen came out there were maybe 50 people there. Pretty big venue, and there was no one there. So imogen came out with the coolest fake red eyelashes. hehe. her hair looked fab, as usual. she started in on CANDLELIGHT. before she started singing she was like "hey, this candle is flickering and making a lot of noise" and she got up and blew it out. Too cute. Candlelight sounded great. Next, she did COME HERE BOY. Then came OH ME, OH MY, which is one of my faves. her voice is so amazing live...she definitely doesnt need a backing band...she can do things with her voice that no band could ever measure up to. Um, next she did THE POCKET SONG. I had heard this sunday nite, and was thrilled to hear it again. It kicks ass, and is really catchy. It was the song that she did for a soundtrack, but got turned down. great song. Um, next i believe came RAKE IT IN. I have to say, some of the people there were so freakin rude. This one girl talked loudly from this point in the show all the way through the end of immi's set. i kept giving her dirty looks. Imogen kept staring at her while she was singing. Hello, it takes alot of guts to get out there and do your thing with a keyboard and no band. Some people are so damn rude. I really felt like going over there and ripping her head off, but i restrained myself:). Um, so Rake it in is definitely the best song live. It's funny, because i never really liked the song that much on the cd. But live...WOW. hehehe. She takes out the "do you know what my chambermaid's" and bumps back the hanging braid line and puts "do you know what my razor blade's for" in it's place. After "do you know what i what i have in store for you" she did that ladada thing with her voice and then covulsed a couple times and screamed at the top of her lungs twice and beat the piano like a 3 yr old. I really need to try that some time, it looks so cathartic!(is that a word?). Anyways, the audience didnt laugh like in Pontiac, which was good. i hooted for her after the little fit she throws, and the audience all screamed after the song. So that was cool Um, next she looked down at trent and i and said "this next song is for these two right here. it's about a person i dont like very much". hehehe, immi' doesnt like us;). haha. So she did GETTING SCARED and it was amazing!!! she did the chorus all sweet sounding, until the last time, when she did it so powerfully, even more so than on the cd. Gosh it was great. Ok, she did another new song, i cant remember the name, its the song about being in love with someone who kisses you and then pulls away and leaves you sitting there saying "hey i want more". um, "i am in love with you" is that the name? dont remember. Then she did SWEET RELIGION (which both nights she referred to as just 'religion'.) Anyways, i absolutley *love* the piano in this song. This song sounds better live than on cd, because she sings the "opposites" part, which i always thought was kinda corny on the cd. Um, she ended again with SLEEP, saying it was a lullabye about how when you wake up in the morning and everything is so perfect. This song really translates well live. The vocals arent as odd and the piano is just beautiful. Haha isnt it obvious i just adore her live?! :) Um, so then rufie came out and was just fantastic again. Some little girl threw a rose at him and he stopped playing and was like "no honey, it went to far, try it again, this time make it a little more dramatic and scream 'rufus!'". so she threw it again and he was like "ok, but next time you might want to try to throw it at me instead of away". Too freakin funny. Imogen came out to do the backup vocals to April Fools. and he was like "there you are you british bitch!" rude. hahaha. i love that song. happy april fools day by the way:). After the show we went and told imogen that the new songs sounded superb, especially the Pocket song. we also said we'd see her in columbus and she put us on the list. Then we went over to rufus. now this is wear the story gets cool hehehe. He was talking to a bunch of people, stopped, and came up to trent and i and was all "so are you guys coming to columbus too?" and HUGGED us. ahahah. so many envious faces in the crowd;) Then we got a pic with him. he is the greatest. how lucky am i that my two favorite new artists toured together?! Anyways, so im going to columbus tomorrow. imogen and rufie 3 times in one week. i know im going to go through withdrawal once this is all over (trent saw em 4 times...now that's ODing...) heheh:) steve ------------------------------ End of wireless-digest V2 #63 *****************************
