Mihaljevic" Subject: [Imogen] Imogen in Pittsburgh, 3/5/99 Hi all, I just got back from seeing Imogen, and thought I'd post a little recap. This is from memory, but I'll do my best. I got to Rosebud (the venue) at about 5:10, and the doors were scheduled to open at 6:00. I wanted to get there early to make sure I got in front, which I did. I was seated in the front row, directly in front of her synthesizer. Here's what she played (I think I got everything in the proper order): - Candlelight - Come Here Boy - Angry Angel: She mentioned that she drew the picture of the 'angry angel' for the t-shirts which were for sale in the back of the room, and encouraged people to buy one. - Sweet Religion - Rake It In: She said that she 'goes a little crazy' in the middle of the song, but she'd be okay afterwards. She did a good bit of screaming in the middle. Cool. - Oh Me, Oh My: She announced that this was her new single, and had a small stack of CD singles to give to the crowd. After asking "Does anybody want one?" she tossed them out. The first few went to the rows behind me, and I yelled, "Down here in front!" She obviously heard me, because she dropped the next one to me. - Kidding: A girl at the show requested this one earlier, and Imogen said she'd play it. The girl got her wish. Cool song. After the show I asked the girl who requested it where she heard it, and she said it's from one of the CD singles. I've got three CD singles (CHB, GS and Shine), and none of them have Kidding on it. Can someone tell me where to find Kidding? - I Am In Love With You: She introduced this song as how she felt after "someone kissed me on the lips and thought he was getting away, but I said 'Nope, you're coming with me to my bed baby!'" - Sleep: She described this one as the perfect way you feel when you first wake up in the morning. After the show, she signed autographs for a bunch of people. The line was deep, but she had a smile on her face the whole time, and a kind word for everyone. I was one of the first to meet her, and I had her sign my booklet from "i Megaphone". She recognized me and said "You were in the front row, weren't you?" I said "yes", and thanked her for the freebie (CD she tossed). I also asked if there was a timetable for a new CD, and she said "As soon as I'm done touring. Every time I stop touring, they send me back out again." The signature on the booklet reads as follows: Dear John - Love & hugs & cheers - and well caught freebie! - Imogen Heap Other notes: Regarding souvenirs, they sold a few different varieties of t-shirts, the "i Megaphone" CD, and small posters. That's it. There was also a sign up sheet to get on her mailing list. You could give your mailing address or email address. Being up front was well worth the time invested in waiting. Considering how far away we usually are from the artist in arenas or stadiums, it's nice to be up close and personal for a change. It's a very different experience from being a mile away from the stage and having to use binoculars or look at a video screen. Being less than ten feet away from the singer, making eye contact, etc. makes the whole thing more memorable. The CD single she tossed out is for "Oh Me, Oh My" and has two version on it: Radio Edit (3:59) LP Version (5:05) This isn't a CD single that you're gonna find in the store. It's kind of a promotional thing. In a nutshell, it was a great time. Imogen was great to hear live. She's got an incredible voice live, unlike some other artists who need the studio to sound good. She's also MUCH more attractive in person. Her photos don't do her justice. She's truly striking. She was also very friendly to talk to. She seemed genuinely happy to meet everyone. A great experience from beginning to end. Don't forget: I need to know where I can get Kidding. Great track. Someone help me out on this please! I've also added a tiny clip of the Blanket single by Urban Species. All in Liquid Red and sounds. I want to see Imogen. :( Anyway, I was wondering if anyone bought one of the t-shirts and would be willing to scan it? I want to see the little drawing that she did, and basically what they look like, cause I'd be willing to buy one off anybody that would get one for me at one of her shows. Also, another note... my site (fionahaswings.com) is down at the moment, along with what was my Imogen site... and I am so busy right now working on FHW that I don't think I'm going to be doing the Imogen site anymore. At least not for a while. I don't see a dire need for it at the moment, so I'm just going to concentrate on my Fiona site right now, but if I get the Immy urge again later, I will rebuild it. Too much stress at the moment though. Anyhoo... happy Imogening everyone. lane* ------------------------------ End of wireless-digest V2 #40 *****************************
