Here are my top 10 concerts of 98 (ones I attended of course ;) : List order by date: 1. Imogen - (Dec. 12, NY - Kingston. My third time seeing her this year. Can I say again how great she is! love her.) 2. Tori Amos - (Nov. 13, NY - Pkpsie. Another musical goddess. I was enthralled. And, at the meet and greet after, she signed my painting of her! yay! ) 3. Garbage - (Oct. 30, NYC - Roseland Ballroom. Boy, can they rock! the place was packed to the walls. I just love them. They make me move ;) "I think I'm paranoid" 4. Alanis Morissette - (Oct. 22, NYC Hammerstein Ballroom. I was so psyched for this! She's just mesmerizing! I had not seen her perform in concert. I absolutely loved her! (My ears are still ringing though from the monster speakers right in front where I was) 5. Various bands - A day at the Garden/Woodstock, NY (July? don't have the stub anymore. Joan Osborne, Marcy's Playground, 3EB, Goo Goo Dolls, The Flys, and others on Sunday, that I don't remember.) It was a lot of fun! 6. Matchbox 20 - twice in NY (once in Radio City Music Hall. I really like them, I don't care what the critics may say. They rocked the house) 7. Juliana Hatfield - twice. (NY Virgin Megastore and Vassar Chapel. She's just awesome acoustically with her guitar. Her voice, so sweet. I hope her new album, Bed, does at least okay. She's so talented...love her. ) 8. Third Eye Blind - 3xs. (NY - again, I love some of their songs. They rocked! don't care what the critics say either ;) Non-shows but still my highlight! 9. Meeting Fiona Apple and Paul Anderson (June 1 - NYC Roseland. This was a benefit performance she was asked to do for ALS. We couldn't go in to hear her. The damn "tickets" was about $1000. to get in, can you believe it?! Needless to say, a lot of the rich were there. BUT, Fiona and Paul were wonderful to us outside. We just loved her even more. Gave us more of a push to continue with our site for her!) 10. Freak - Broadway show with John Leguizamo. (Mar 21 - NYC Cort Theatre. Superb show with John on a one-man show acting his autobiographical bittersweet life. Again, I love it.) Wow, I've been a music freak and junkie! ;) Have a happy new year. Cheers! ;) Nanikita ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Dec 1998 02:06:06 EST From: ChldisGone@aol.com Subject: [Imogen] concerts... hello again.. as far as i can remember i only went to about 7 concerts this year.. but i'll list them anyway. lilith fair - sometime in july - raleigh, nc - walnut creek amphitheatre i heard holly mcnarland for the first time.. she was the first act to play on the second stage and everyone started going over there when they heard her, including me. she was awesome. billie myers played.. she was really cool. she jumped over me into the audience and kissed some guy. interesting. meredith brooks played on the mainstage.. i secured my spot front and center at the second stage for rebekah.. she was great.. spent most of the queen latifah set standing in line to meet bekah and looking at jewelry.. saw bonnie raitt and sarah mclachlan.. spent the night in a hotel. awesome day. :) lilith fair - the next day - charlotte, nc - blockbuster pavilion saw holly and rebekah front and center again.. both were amazing. *damn* i wish i would've gotten a holly auto. i love her more than bekah now.. anyway.. i gave rebekah roses and a teddy bear.. she asked me for a hug when i met her again. :) she's great. saw the same people from the first people except holly cole was in billie myers's time slot. (beth orton was supposed to play billie's spot but cancelled :( :( ) jonny lang - march 6th, 1998 - charlotte, nc - i forget the name of the place. something about mardi gras. this boy is AMAZING live. there were a bunch of teenybopper girls there but i managed to grab the front and center spot RIGHT at the mic before their squealing little bodies got through the door. nee ner nee ner. :) tori amos - sometime in august - charlotte, nc - oven's auditorium (in my opinion the best venue in the city.. plus the tour buses are right behind the building where the parking lot is.) what can i say about tori... she was just amazing. it was my first time seeing her.. i would've loved to see her by herself at the piano too, but the band was awesome. the lights kicked ass. matchbox 20 & paula cole - september something - charlotte, nc - blockbuster pavilion this was my third time seeing paula.. we were a little late so i missed the first 2 or 3 songs :( :( but she was amazing anyway. matchbox 20 just rocks the house. matchbox 20 - february i think - charlotte, nc - ovens auditorium this was the first time i saw them.. i got to meet adam (rhythm guitarist) and he gave me a big bear hug.. the rest of the band came out with him of course but i only talked to him. he was actually an old roomie in this now-non- existant chatroom on aol that i used to go in. sarah mclachlan & lisa loeb - i don't remember when - charlotte, nc - i forget the name of the friggin venue! it's right next to ovens auditorium. again, we were freakin' late, so i missed part of lisa's set. :( but both lisa and sarah's sets were amazing.. my ass was numb by the time sarah was done though. ;) hehe. i also saw eric clapton.. i don't remember when.. in charlotte at the charlotte coliseum. he's not really my thing, but he was really good too. :) pardon my babbling! happy new year everyone! lane* fionahaswings.com fionahaswings.com/imogen ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Dec 1998 15:08:48 EST From: ChldisGone@aol.com Subject: [Imogen] Rufus Wainwright? (NIC) hey guys.. okay, so i've been wanting to hear Rufus Wainwright for a while, ever since i first saw that GAP commercial (that's him isn't it?). anyway, i was cleaning up some stuff in my room and found this Alternative Press Fall 1998 sampler, and noticed that his song "April Fools" was on it. so i popped it in the player and i'm on the song for the third time now. i really like it. :) definitely good music to clean your room to. i noticed that someone (i don't remember who) on this list noted him in one of their top tens. i was wondering if anyone had his album and could tell me what it's like? i'm interested in getting it. :) thanks. lane* fionahaswings.com fionahaswings.com/imogen ------------------------------ End of wireless-digest V1 #60 *****************************
