Jonathon Stooner wrote: > 9.) Dag - Apartment 625 mmmm i think it's 635. ; ) anyway... i'd post a top ten but i can't really recall which -new- albums i bought during 98... so i think i'll skip that and just list my Top Ten Concerts of 1998. : ) Ben Folds Five - Feb 7, The Warfield had to wait all night in the rain to get in, but it was soooo worth it. Ben Folds is one of the most entertaining people on the planet. Everclear - May 19th, The Warfield another show at the Warfield, an awesome kick off for the new tour. very exciting. Lilith Fair - Jun 24, The Shoreline spent most of my day at the third stage, but it was very worth it. most of those acts were much better than the main/second stage. Sarah was dissapointing. Stevie Nicks - Aug 1, The Shoreline probably not the best venue for such a performer, but the vibe was amazing. Tori Amos - Aug 14, BJCC Hall {birmingham, al} my first tori experience [doesn't make me any less of a fan, so hush] and it was amazing. sooo very far away, but very cool. got autographs and pictures. Tori Amos - Aug 18, Chastain Park {atlanta, ga} much cooler than the first time, the outdoor venure added a wonderful effect... Tori Amos -- Sept 15, New Area {oakland, ca} wow!!!! floor seats!!!!!! floor seats!!!!!!!! ; ) [thanks raffi!] Tori Amos [i know, i know...] Sept 19, Events Center {san jose, ca} floor seats again! i waited in a damn good line for these. she played "american pie," i was in tears. Soul Coughing - Sept 30, The Warfield one of my favorite bands [for a long time, no bandwagon here...] and it was simply amazing. i even got Doughty to play "Mr. Bitterness" for me. wheeee! Natalie Merchant - Dec06, The Paramount, Oakland simply kick-ass. i have so much respect and love for her as a performer, and i would see her anytime. and the seats were great! [thanks raffi!!] Depeche Mode - Dec 11, New Arena {oakland, ca} it was actually a lot... "less" than i thought it was going to be.. er.. i mean, it was too much. the backup singers were a little weird, but overall it was fun.. and thats all i have to say right now. those are the shows i have tickets for. which don't include the three times i saw Imogen, which are so far up to the top of my list, that they overflow it. she's amazing. thats all there is to it. : ) *charlie ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Dec 1998 10:34:47 -0600 From: cilldara@mail.utexas.edu Subject: Re: [Imogen] My turn (Top Ten...) Okay, I'll play... partially to see if I can come up with 10 for this year. In no particular order: Ray of Light - Madonna Version 2.0 - Garbage i Megaphone - Imogen Heap from the choirgirl hotel - Tori Amos Ophelia - Natalie Merchant Hmmm... that's only 5. I bought and liked others, but those are the ones that are constantly in the CD player (Fiona Apple and Black Tape for a Blue Girl I bought this year and loved, but, neither came out this year or even in late '97, so they don't really count). Maybe I'll do better with singles, hmmm... again, in no order -- Imogen Heap - Come Here Boy Madonna - Frozen Madonna - The Power of Goodbye Fastball - The Way Goo Goo Dolls - Iris (hey, overplayed, yes, but still good) Tori Amos - Spark Sheryl Crow - My Favorite Mistake Heather Nova - London Rain Push It - Garbage When I Grow Up - Garbage Well, that's ten, anyway. Based on what I hear on the radio and like, rather than what I bought on my own (for instance, all of Tori's singles no matter what the airplay was like). I also went to more concerts this year than I had before -- in addition to being invited to see Megadeth (yes, I went), I saw Garbage, Tori and Imogen. I'm still swooning; they were all great. (Yep, even Megadeth. I admit it.) Okay, enough for me. I can't remember if I've de-lurked before now, so, if I haven't, hello all. :) Susan - -- Susan Harwood Kaczmarczik cilldara@mail.utexas.edu -- http://ccwf.cc.utexas.edu/~cilldara/ "I don't want life to imitate art.
