Well, finally I know that this list is in fact active. I guess I'll formally introduce myself now. My name is Robbie (::waves::) and I'm 21, from California. I introduced myself to Imogen's album because it was on sale at my local record store and I thought I'd give it a whirl. I couldn't believe how awesome it was. It was later that "Come Here Boy" started playing on the radio station and I thought for sure that Imogen would be pretty popular, but it seems no one is really talking about her much, at least in my cluster of friends. I can listen to the album from start to finish with total satisfaction. I think my favorite tracks are "Getting Scared", "Whatever", "Angry Angel" and "Sweet Religion". Basically, she's just damn cool. I've seen the UK single for "Come Here Boy", but for three songs, I'm not willing to shell out the $13 the store was asking. Sometimes, imports can be so fucking expensive. As for other artists I enjoy (get ready for a hefty list): Liz Phair Paula Cole Heather Nova Ben Harper Aimee Mann Jen Trynin PJ Harvey Jonatha Brooke Garrison Starr Ani DiFranco Sheryl Crow Jolynn Daniel Lauren Christy Suzanne Vega The Wilsons Dar Williams Shawn Colvin Chantal Kreviazuk They Might Be Giants Sophie B. Hawkins Tori Amos Merril Bainbridge Donna Lewis Sarah McLachlan Hole Amanda Marshall Poe Ruby Morcheeba Zoe Basically, the list goes on an on. I'm quite a musical zealot. Hope I didn't put anyone to sleep with that list there. Well, I guess that's enough of an introduction. Hope to hear from more of you... Speaking of the album being on sale and all, I saw it at tower records here today for 8.99. that's pretty damn cheap for an album, seeing as the usual on sale price is something like 12.99 and the "typical" cd price is about 15.99! i guess noone is buying it? :( oh well... everyone else's loss, right? or does the 8.99 price mean the record company is taking a small profit on the first few albums they sell to try and promote imogen. ___________________________________________________________ Just another message from -=Rob Vanatta=- rvanatta@ecst.csuchico.edu OR mirror@poe.org http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~rvanatta - homepage http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~rvanatta/mbrooks - Meredith Brooks NET http://come.to/sacrocky - Under Sedation, Sacramento's Rocky Horror! - ----------------------------------------------------------- "i am alone, surrounded by the colour blue inside a poem, the only words i ever knew washing my hands, of the many years untold for now i am banned, my future it's to unfold" - Imogen Heap - ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 09:16:45 +0100 From: Dan Abel Subject: Re: [Imogen] Musical Zealot Juvenilia@aol.com wrote: > I guess I'll formally introduce myself now. I haveta agree here, this is *exactly* my favorite list too... spooky > I've seen the UK single for "Come Here Boy", but for three songs, I'm not > willing to shell out the $13 the store was asking. Sometimes, imports can be > so fucking expensive. fair point, you could try ordering over the internet, or dan's 'imogen promos club' :) but seriously, i found that the b-sides to come here boy were ok, the b-sides (count em: 3) to shine were awesome, and if you like the tracks off the album that i like, then you'll probs like the last track on the single lots. cheers dan ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 09:48:20 -0700 From: charlie Subject: Re: [Imogen] Musical Zealot Dan Abel wrote: > or dan's > 'imogen promos club' :) please elaborate : ) - -c. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 09:48:48 -0700 From: charlie Subject: [Imogen] Re: Musical Zealot Juvenilia@aol.com wrote: > I guess I'll formally introduce myself now. sounds like a plan to me.. i'm charlene, 'youngster', from northern california... my imogen introduction came from my good friend jon...i introduced him to fiona apple in 96, so this is like payback.. : ) as far as favorite tracks, i'll have to go with "shine" "oh me oh my" "whatever" and "sweet religion"... obsessions include live music, web design & photography... my music list would be far too big that put to print and still have it be interesting, but the ones that relate to this list would probably include : fiona apple tori amos chantal kreviazuk tara maclean sarah rebekah janis ian edie brickell holly mcnarland colleen coadic beth orton pj harvey and of course the staples, like smashing pumpkins, depeche mode, the cure, nine inch nails, ben folds five, propellerheads [an awesome live show if you ever get the chance], garbage, portishead, radiohead, and the list goes on.. Well, I'm from Northern California too, so that's 4 :) Most of the mailing lists I've been on for other artists never have anyone from this area :P I also noticed that when Imogen did her tour, she did quite a few dates in this area. Of course, I missed them ALL but that's another story which makes me bitter >:/ Is it because the radio supported her here somewhat? I noticed a lot of people said that Imogen isn't talked about where they live, but on the Sacramento station I listen too, they played the hell out of "Come Here Boy" all summer. But hey, I'm not complaining! It's what introduced me to Imogen :) TTYL ___________________________________________________________ Just another message from -=Rob Vanatta=- rvanatta@ecst.csuchico.edu OR mirror@poe.org http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~rvanatta - homepage http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~rvanatta/mbrooks - Meredith Brooks NET http://come.to/sacrocky - Under Sedation, Sacramento's Rocky Horror! - ----------------------------------------------------------- "i am alone, surrounded by the colour blue inside a poem, the only words i ever knew washing my hands, of the many years untold for now i am banned, my future it's to unfold" - Imogen Heap - ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 11:15:32 -0700 From: charlie Subject: Re: [Imogen] Re: Musical Zealot Jonathon Stooner wrote: > > my imogen introduction came from my good friend jon...i introduced him > > **blush** > har har.. > > > fiona apple > > tori amos > > chantal kreviazuk > > tara maclean > > Wait! She is so very cool, when I met here she was extremly nice, and shook my hand before I left. I heard she stayed an hour later than she was suppose to signing autographs. I just wish Alanis was liek that :~( PS - Anyone on the list going to the Atlanta show? Does anyone know what the next UK single will be?
