In the late 60s a lot of blues bands were getting open G open D tunings from the old blues masters. Although I would love to think that Jimmy Page was influenced by Joni alone, clearly he was more influenced by the blues greats who used these tunings a lot. Don't ask me to name names, I'm not an expert on blues history. Also, I know that there was a progressive movement in England that centered around the celtic sounds of Nick Drake and Fairport Convention (richard thompson) that also used alternate tunings. I'm barking out the back of my subconscious so if anyone wants to correct any of my musings, please feel free. Right now I can't stop listening to Nirvana, go figure. take care, sue At 8:52 AM -0500 11/4/03, Bobsart48@aol.com wrote: >I recently watched a Moody Blues DVD (the one at Albert Hall), and noticed >that on at least a couple of the songs, Justin Hayward is playing in open G.
