I know that Joni has been listed in several magazine lists of the 100 best guitarists, and usually alongside only 3 or 4 other women. I've seen references to lists in Q and Mojo, and I think also Guitar magazine (or one of the Guitar-somethings), but I can't find more specific info. (most importantly the date of these lists). Can anyone give me one or two or three specific citations of such lists? I haven't been able to find them in the JMDL library. Thanks. I made some really nasty comments which I now regret because I usually like to be a nice person (a-hem). But how I feel about lists in general can be said in one of my favorite joni quotes: HIP IS A HERD MENTALITY! This list, in my oh so humble opinion, is blatantly lame!! But since you asked, and you seem to be a very nice guy, here is the URL: http://www.guitar.com/g2kfeatures/viewfeature.asp?featureID=12 There was also a list in Acoustic Guitar (?) a couple of years ago (which Joni made) called the best acoustic performances of all time. Joni was credited with Black Crow off of Hejira, which is kind of funny because she plays electric on that song. (go figure). Right now I can't find a link for this one. I'll check around. Good luck!!! I'm simply using it to demonstrate an area where Joni achieved mainstream recognition for accomplishment in what is still, sadly (though less so now) perceived as a male domain. (Other such areas include record production, and - going back to the start of her career, songwriting. Not to mention musical genius-ship). Personally, I put no stock in such best-of lists. best, Dan ------------------------------ End of wanderer-digest V2 #38 *****************************
