It definitely has that sound - like one of those big bodied guitars with the f-holes cut into it. I think I remember seeing a shot of Joni using this kind of guitar on some live footage fromn the 80s... Hi, all. I just subscribed to Wanderer. I fell lucky to be part of (have access to) this list. I agree that it sounds like an acoustic electric. I own a Gibson 335 (actually, I gave it to my brother 25+ years ago, and borrowed it back last summer - so he owns it). I do not think it is a 335 (is Lucille a 335 ?) for a few reasons. 1. Does not sound quite right to me. However, the 335 is pretty versatile, so I suspect it could come pretty close. 2. The 335 has a narrow neck, so the strings are close together. I do not think that is Joni's style. For example, my Martin's string span is just under 1.5" at the nut and about 2.25" at the bridge. The S-335 is 1.25 and just under 2", respectively. 3. On the S&L video, she is playing a pair of acoustic-electrics that look identical to me except for their color, and which could be the one. I did not recognize the make (I am not knowledgeable about this - and I just lent my video to a friend, so I cannot check - something beginning with a D, like Duff ?). Anyway, the neck looks wider on them (Metheny is playing a similar looking guitar, which is a Gibson, as I recall, but is not a 335). Both of their guitars on S&L have wider bodies than the 335 - that may give them even more of an acoustic sound. Well, I'm feeling inspired to go play around with BMR for a while (one of the many I have not learned yet). I wonder how much the amp has to do with the sound.
