Already told you she sang 'a case of you' which was not too much unlike her version at the Tribute. She also sang this great Peggy Lee song "I don't know enough about you" whoa, that was great. Last night I fell asleep on the current vanity fair issue article of Peggy Lee, and was completely fascinated (before I started snoring). I think in the long tradition of torch singers, these women, including Joni, are so powerful (in a kickass, big kahunas kind of way). The picture in vanity fair of Peggy Lee snapping her fingers aggressively at the audience before slinking out "Fever" is an experience I wish I could have witnessed in my lifetime. amazing. So I started thinking about my favorite Joni torch song "Man to Man" off of Wild Things Run Fast. Printed out Howard's version of the chords and started practicing. Talking about Joni's big kahunas: She recorded that song with Larry Klein on bass, John Guerin on Drums and James Taylor doing back up vocals. I just wish I could have been in the studio to watch her sing..."how come I keep moving from man to man to man" That's a bold woman. :-) Here's the url for man to man if you are interested: Howard's version: http://www.jmdl.com/guitar/mantoman-hw-c.cfm Marian's version: http://www.jmdl.com/guitar/mantoman-mr-c.cfm sue ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Apr 2002 10:12:35 -0500 From: Susan McNamara Subject: Fwd: BOUNCE wanderer@smoe.org: Non-member submission from [Michael Paz ] - --- begin forwarded text Status: U Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 00:51:40 -0500 (EST) From: owner-wanderer@smoe.org To: owner-wanderer@smoe.org Subject: BOUNCE wanderer@smoe.org: Non-member submission from [Michael Paz ] Received: from c007.snv.cp.net (c007-h013.c007.snv.cp.net [209.228.33.220]) by smoe.org (8.12.2/8.12.2) with SMTP id g335pcVU006768 for ; Wed, 3 Apr 2002 00:51:38 -0500 (EST) Received: (cpmta 19083 invoked from network); 2 Apr 2002 21:51:36 -0800 Received: from 216.227.104.33 (HELO ?192.168.1.100?) by smtp.directvinternet.com (209.228.33.220) with SMTP; 2 Apr 2002 21:51:36 -0800 X-Sent: 3 Apr 2002 05:51:36 GMT User-Agent: Microsoft-Entourage/9.0.2509 Date: Tue, 02 Apr 2002 23:59:37 -0800 Subject: Guitar Tech stuff From: Michael Paz To: Message-ID: Mime-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Hello fellow Wanderers Check out this web site for this article about a new Gibson digital guitar. I have always respected Joni for her spirit and big cohones as well. She does what she feels and doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks and I admire that. I have never commented about her sex life on the big list cause I am not comfortable making comments in that forum for all to read. But the context you used here is unique because of the song content and it really bowled me over. My dad was a huge Peggy Lee fan and we saw her perform Fever many times on TV back in the day and I have warm memories of my family because of this ref. Thanks so much for brightening up my day. Paz P.S. We all know men would have no trouble with this scenario of three formers in the band and singing out Woman to Woman...
