It was an incredible event, lots of world class players. One of the high points was a vocalist who introduced one of her last numbers as a Joni Mitchell tune, saying she had never heard it done as a blues before, and that she was probably lucky that Joni wasn't in the audience. She then performed a stunning version of Blue like I have never heard it before, as a blues number! It still maintained the feel of the original, but in a whole different setting with this jazz combo. I went up to her after the show, saying I was a huge joni fan ( which she said she could figure by the way I reacted to the song) and I told her I thought Joni would have loved it. 'nuff said... I always have the blues when I sing it! (which is usually a cappella, because I can't play piano and I can't play it on guitar!) Actually if anyone has a favorite tab of Blue that they'd like to share, that would be great. Sounds like a great festival. sue >hey folks, > >I went to the FMSF East Coast Jazz Festival >in Rockville,MD over the weekend.
