Do you remember, Sue, that a while back I asked if, when you had the time, you could write an article about the JMDL guitar site for Hugh Blumenfeld's about.com folk site? Until July this year I'd been writing a regular monthly column for him called 'Across the Pond' covering the UK acoustic scene. Hugh wrote to me recently to tell me that 'about.com' were closing down 300 sites, including his. Fortunately, however, they had allowed him to keep all the resources he had built up for them over the past two years, and has just re-launched the site as the 'Ballad Tree' - see http://www.balladtree.com He has a links section for tracing song lyrics, chords and tablature, which includes getting on for 100 artists - quite a few open tuning specialists and many of the musicians discussed regularly on the jmdl (and the jmdl guitar archive too, of course!). Hugh also asked if he could archive my monthly articles (for the past two years) on his new site, which I am pleased for him to do. Not sure he's had the chance to put them all up yet, but they include my interview with Richard Thompson discussing his appearance on the Joni Tribute TV show and, more recently, a telephone conversation with Shawn Colvin just before she left for her UK with Mary Chapin Carpenter, and also a feature about David Crosby prior to his visit here with CPR - plus loads of links I discovered researching the column each month - I'm taking a break at the moment - recording an album for my favourite piano player, Peter Falkner - but when I get the time I shall continue to contribute on an occasional basis. Hope you find some useful leads here. All the best Paul - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susan McNamara" To: Sent: 27 November 2001 21:55 Subject: Web site links > Hi Wanderers: > > I'm working on the Link Page for the mailing list and wanted to send > out another request for your favorite tab pages with alternative > tunings. > > THANKS!!!
