Hey gang: I'm sorry it's been a couple days since I posted here. I first of all want to welcome all the people who subscribed this week! You've probably signed on here because you want to talk about guitar playing...well, let's gab!! Here's what I've been up to lately when I have a spare minute and I can stay awake. Two weeks ago I played with a singer from the Wells college a cappella group Henry's Eight. we did about an hour and a half of cool tunes including some Joni: Morning Morgantown, Little Green, Big Yellow Taxi and I played Marcie solo. We also played a bunch of other tunes that went over pretty well to a very stocked crowd (mostly her friends from Wells!) We did a pretty nice version of the old Beatles cover "Anna" God I love that song. The best part for me was when the whole acapella group came up and did a smashing version of Abba's Dancing Queen! Gorgeous women singing gorgeous notes. much fun was had by all. Lately I've been in Hejira tuning (CGDFGC) and have been also working on my tab of My Secret Place which is totally unsatisfying to me. I'm trying to work out a comparable intro to (what I think) is the keyboard notes in the intro. If anyone has any ideas on how to simulate that, preferably in harmonics (wouldn't that sound great), please help!! So what tuning/songs are you playing this week? Inquiring minds want to know!!! :-) hasta maqana, sue ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2001 11:09:18 -0500 From: "Bill Dollinger" Subject: Re: I've wandered!! hi sue, hi wanderers, I am so happy to have found this list. While in cgdgbd-land I have been working on cold blue steel and sweet fire as well. I also just got a copy of the hissing songbook, which has standard tunings, and I have been playing scarlett in standard. You might have to alter the nut on the neck or the saddle. That sometimes involves getting a new nut or saddle and sanding them down to the height you want them at. There are compensated saddles out there that are higher at the bass strings and lower at the first and second strings - which is good because in our cases we usually don't tune higher than C on the 2nd or E on the 1st. You can make a quick repair by sticking a small piece of paper between the nut or the saddle on the sixth string which will stop that buzzing or looseness of it.
