Has anyone attempted a tab for Blue on Blue yet? I was thinking about starting on this one this week. I love when Joni hides nasty resentments under a beautiful melody! :-) sue ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Oct 2001 10:46:00 -0400 From: slarty Subject: Hi all ______ __ __ ______ ______ __ __ __ __ Hexagram Fifty-Six: Lu / The Wanderer Fire on the Mountain, catastrophic to man, a passing annoyance to the Mountain: The Superior Person waits for wisdom and clarity before exacting Justice, then lets no protest sway him. Find satisfaction in small gains. To move constantly forward is good fortune to a Wanderer. Hexagram Fifty-Six/Line One: A traveler with petty complaints and too many demands soon wears out his welcome. Hexagram Fifty-Six/Line Two: The traveler lodges at an inn and keeps his belongings with him at all times. He gains a loyal servant. Hexagram Fifty-Six/Line Three: The traveler causes a fire that burns down the inn. He loses the trust of his servant and traveling companions. Danger. Hexagram Fifty-Six/Line Four: Taking shelter in an abandoned cabin, the traveler finds his stolen belongings beside a razor-sharp axe. What should be delight freezes to dread. Hexagram Fifty-Six/Line Five: The traveler kills a pheasant with his first shot. For the price of one arrow, he has bought himself praise and high office. Hexagram Fifty-Six/Line Six: The traveler uses a bird's nest as kindling. He chuckles at his cleverness, but soon weeps when he loses his ox. Misfortune. Copyright 1995-1996 Roger Norton Consulting. I love the I Ching! This one reads like a sad Joni song, doesn't it? Line one reminds me of my Nana who always said, if you are a visitor don't wear out your welcome! :-) my Iching this morning was 2) the receptive into 29) the abysmal which portrays an image that says "bear with it, there may be danger ahead." I've working on some of Joni's tunings :~) Thanks Sue for the Wanderer ~rose in NJ rosemjoy@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Oct 2001 11:35:25 -0400 From: slarty Subject: Re: Hi all Hi Sue As Joy said Thanks for starting up this. Though I hate to admit it I don't know a lot about the I Ching but I thought this post would be a good way to test out my mail filters while remaining relevant. If I get a chance later today I'll take a better look at the I Ching page I took this from so that maybe I'll know exactly what it was I sent. :) We go back along way, Sue, and it's nice to see you running this. Do you think I should go back to using my guitar sig. ;) I remember a lot of people weren't to happy with it. As I recall it was PRETTY BIG! Was that the major complaint? You can use it here if you want, I don't care. :-) Actually the I Ching thing is pretty cool but being knowlegeable about I Ching is not a requirement of this list. (I remember Rose and I had a good conversation about that a while back-Hi Rose WELCOME!!) It's just another of the wierd sidetrips Joni takes us on as she tells us about her life (others include Neitchze, Plato and Van Gogh!) she's well read. :-) take care, sue - -- "Heart and humor and humility will lighten up your heavy load ... Thanks for starting this, Sue. I've had so much inspiration from the jmdl guitar site recently - so thanks to all involved. My latest revelation has been learning the guitar part for Amelia, ie Tuning: CGCEGC ("Joni" Tuning: C75435) Among my instruments, I have an Ibanez f-hole which, when coupled to a good chorus sound on my recorder, gets pretty close to that original great sound - and have just about locked in the run up sequence (and the placing of the descending chords - oh Joni - you are good!) Now all I need is a great voice to sing it - even in tight clothing I find it hard to come close to singing the top line. Thanks again for starting this. I don't have too many friends whose eyes don't glaze over when I start talking about "Joni tuning C75435" PaulC ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Oct 2001 15:40:31 -0500 From: "Michael Paz" Subject: Re: New List Here here Sue. It's the Joni Guitar players list. Yay! I just thought I would tell you that I have been conversing with John Kelly (the guy who does Joni dressed in drag) and I have agreed to loan him one of my VG-8's for his upcoming shows at the Fez in NYC. Sue, have you ever played a VG-8 system? Maybe when it's shipped back to me I could send it to you to use for awhile and get your feet wet with it. Paul have you tried capoing this tuning? I have found a couple of different tunings for Amelia (depending on what shape my voice is in). I will be damned if I can tell you off the top of my head what they are. I am going to join this list at home as well and I will post from there and let you know what they are. So glad you're here! > Paul have you tried capoing this tuning? Yes, I've tried a few positions - but you lose the full 'right key' sound - and not having a cut- away, I fluff the top and second chords of the run down - and my voice still lacks any real control in the lower register. Think I'll have to keep it for my bath-time repertoire! >I have found a couple of different tunings for >Amelia (depending on what shape my voice is in). I'd be really interested, if you get the time. Very best Paul ------------------------------ End of wanderer-digest V1 #2 ****************************
