The Cellar (Vancouver, Canada) on Friday, November 12, 2004 Line-up: Kirsten Jones, Fraser Mackenzie, & Kirsty Thirsk Kirsten Jones: I think she's from Toronto. She's got a pretty good voice but I'm not really into folksy music. It was just her on the guitar with one of her friends hopping on stage for one song. Fraser Mackenzie: Omg, I wanted to pierce my eardrums! Enough said? lol! Kirsty Thirsk: I think she was headlining this music showcase since she was on last. Kirsty's "look".... Does anyone really care what she's wearing, on this list? She just had on a t-shirt and jeans!! Just kiddin'. The venue was dark even with their red/blue spotlights so colours described here may not be as they appear in white light. On her head she had on a thin pinkish headband that went around her forehead like a crown. Something a fairy princess might wear, perhaps? A pink rose was attached to it. She had on a long black jacket with a big pink rose on the lower left side of it. Near the beginning of the show she puts on a "Pistols At Dawn" (hard rock pop band @ NMW) sticker on her the left collar of jacket. Underneath her jacket (She removed her jacket after the first song...wahoo!), she had on a sexy whitish/cream spaghetti strapped lingerie-like top which was covered by a sheer white silk-like garment...it was longer than the jacket but shorter than the dark brown or dark red skirt that was just above the knees. On her legs she wore black fishnet nylons that had the appearance of being torn in many places with big holes in it...might be part of the design of it as opposed to it being intentionally torn since it looked too perfectly torn. Over that she wore white stockings just below her knees. And black high heels completed the "look." What can I say about the actually show? She was accompanied by her usual 4 member band and she sounded GREAT. She always does an amazing show! Seemed a tad louder than at the Railway Club the week before but it may be just the acoustics in the venue and/or that I was closer to the speakers. No Rose Chronicles songs this time and it was way too short. The whole show ended at about 10:08 pm which was before the opening act of her last show had even hit the stage a week ago. Official set list: Over It Run Away At The Border (Appeared on the TV show JAG Nov. 12 and not the previous week!) If Only Take You On Policy Of Truth Imagination Truth Fantasy Duration: ~ 0:38:00 At the venue, they were selling a compilation CD called "You Need This". Kristy Thirsk's "Over It" is in the CD. For more info about it go to: http://www.cazartrecords.com/index.cfm?pg=compilation Here's something I "found"... Looks like song lyrics...hmm... what song could it be? Policy Of Truth? It was handwritten on two separate pages...not 100% sure which is page 1 and page 2. The handwriting in not entirely legible but I'll try my best. Sorry, no scanner. Anyways, here's what's on page "A": You've got something to hide Should've hidden it.... now you not satisfied with what you've been put through it's just time to pay the price for not listening to advice & deciding in your youth... Things could be so different now -use to be so [civilized] now you will never know how it could've been if you'd only lied you see your problems multiply if you continually [decide] to faithfully persue (pursue?) * note: text in [] are words I am not too sure about Page "B": Now you're standing there tongue tied You'd better learn your lesson well hide what you have to hide & tell what you have to tell you'll see your problems multiply ...... faithfully persue (pursue?). _________________________ Before I go... Kristy's got a new Diary entry: 2004-11-15 So, I am in New York right now staying with my wicked friend Harland...whom you may know from the Delerium tour. She was the other chanteuse up on stage with me!! Love her. The weather here is so amazing right now...beautiful sunny skies and crisp cold, but not too cold. I love it here...I really do. Anyhoo...the plan is to shop of course for some wicked clothes and write some songs with Harland, and of course I have some business stuff to attend to. The night I arrived here H and I went out to this wicked bar called Morrocon bar L'Orange Blue. We danced our fanny's off to wicked music and live congo drumming by true professionals....and ok, we had a few martini's. It was much much fun and I totally suggest going to this place if you are ever in town. It is an experience all it's own..acutally hard to put into words. So , so far it's been mostly play and no work, but work starts today and I'll keep you updated on the process. Well, I just wanted to say hello from the big apple. Hope you are all well. Talk to you soon. Love ya. I care what she's wearing, how she looks, etc! Many thanks again for the lovely, detailed review...and I hope that your eardrums are still intact. ;-) And yes, that's Depeche Mode.
