In 1997 I once testified the Happily Ever After multimedia work, probably on Win95 with some antique CDrom. Not a big deal, though. It had some kind of a slideshow looking like a book of the Rose Chronicles: you could turn the pages and there would be some info and pictures. There were some videoclips as well, of the "Dwelling" video at least. It featured people rolling over in some kind of woods with the band playing in the back. "Awaiting.." was definitely a better show, actually the only show of Kristy I've seen yet. So, if you really want to see the multimedia, try to match that kind of a setup and equipment on PC. Might not be worth it. Maybe there is some other way to see those videos again? It is from the free weekly Vancouver (Canada) entertainment newspaper, "The Georgia Straight" (http://www.Straight.com/), dated February 12-19, 2004 (page 91). Acquizeta http://www.taramaclean.co.nr/ http://www.amyemerman.co.nr/ Kristy Thirsk Souvenir (Pretty Noise Productions) by Mike Usinger Were this the late '90s and the height of Lilith Fair mania, Kristy Thirsk would find herself in an enviable position. Possessed with one of the most incredible voices in the city, she's come up with some beauties on 'Souvenir'. The first great moment is "Imagination", a chugging, three-and-a-half minute shot of cloud-bursting, acoustic-oriented pop. More goodness follows with the wistful, western-tinged "At the Border" and the heaven-sent, trans-psychedelic "Whitelight". Much of the credit for the album's success goes to the production team of Thirsk and Eric Rose; the two go for a warm, organic sound but aren't afraid to take sonic detours, as on the slow-drift, computer-fortified "Home for Angels". There are times on 'Souvenir' ("Second Fiddle", for instance) when Thirsk's vocal gymnastics become too much; sure, she can hit notes out of reach of mere mortals, but she needs to resist the urge to prove it. Still, the album is ultimately strong enough to get you thinking that were this 1997, Thirsk would be fielding the kind of offers that vaulted Lisa Loeb and Liz Phair into the big leagues. And, of course, onto the stage of Lilith Fair. ------------------------------ End of vicious-thorn-digest V8 #18 **********************************
