The big success story over here (UK) at the moment is Evanescence. Nobody had heard of them and then there was this huge publicity and airplay with the single...but they didn't release it! And they priced the CD at #10.99 (approx US$18) which is really cheap for a CD here, so everyone had to buy the album and I think it entered the album charts at something like #3! When she releases her new CD are there US radio stations that accept requests to play songs? They're really huge over here as well. Have to admit, even I like what I've heard, and I HATE "new" bands for the most part. As far as getting Kristy's name out there, something they did on The Damned's message board with some recent shows was advertised for "Angels" - people who really love the band to put up posters, flyers, etc. around the cities they were playing in or near. In return (which, if you really like a band, you shouldn't need, in my humble opinion), they'll receive a free copy of their DVD (not out yet) and two (I think) free tickets to a show. I've offered to do it for them here (if they make it to Texas!!!), and would be MORE than willing to do the same for Kristy Thirsk...without getting anything in return!!!
