Muwahahaha! ;) I can completely understand this, Mindy, and I feel the same way. If she became more successful, we would get more music -- and I might actually get to see a show in my lifetime -- but she wouldn't be a special secret anymore. Another thought: I don't think Kristy could ever "sell out"; she seems incredibly dedicated to her musical vision ("they're watching my every sound, I said..." -Tori ;)), and it doesn't seem to me that she could ever compromise that for any amount of money. No one could put a price on her voice and talent. >From: LidiaEliz@aol.com >Subject: Re: Kristy and mainstream success > >I would like her to become more well-known, but I don't think her style of >music would ever allow her to be mainstream. It's a bit darker than what >tends to make it big. This is also true -- her style of music is so unique, and for this I'm glad. She has been compared to many other musicians, but I think she stands out. She has a voice that makes me think she could sing opera or other classical styles of music, but she uses it to communicate emotions and circumstances that life brings to us all. Living in this world can be very painful, and I like that she's not afraid of bringing that out into the open. >I wish she would tour out east. I'm beginning to do this as well. Perhaps she has a larger underground fan base than we think (one can only dream). I like the fact that although she is not mainstream, her fans are very devoted to her music - -- I know -I- am. Does anyone know what Kristy's range is? It seems -phenomenal- to me. Also, are there any stores online or in the Vancouver area in which I could purchase the Bootleg[s?] CD? (I'm desperate for a copy; the quality of MP3s is horrible compared to the quality of a CD.) Oh, and if any of you VTers want to contact me on AIM and/or ICQ, e-mail me and I'll give you my screenname/number. I'd be delighted to speak with fellow Kristy fans, since most people have absolutely no idea who she is. ;) ~Emily _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Aug 2001 19:01:25 -0400 From: "Danielle M." So it's safe to say that her range is at *least* 3 octaves, though it's most likely more than that. Not a big difference, but I want to be right. :P Lauren ------------------------------ End of vicious-thorn-digest V5 #38 **********************************
