Connections? Company perks? Anyhow, thanks for the info. I'll be updating my page shortly. Actually, the main reason I'm writing is to ask people who visit Vox often whether or not they find the downloading of the page lagging a lot. While folks with cable modems (like John N and I :) and faster connections probably don't feel it often, Geocities' servers are fairly notorious for being slow. Just curious as I'm contemplating moving the site to another server... Also, I should apologize for my last mail concerning the Cranberries. Truth is, I don't think they're that bad, I just dislike the way people so often feel the need to pigeonhole musical styles (sorry, Mr. Schwartz, this is not intended as a stab - d@mn, I'm apologizing a lot here!). I mean, I've heard Kristy's voice and music compared to the likes of Sarah M, Tori Amos, Liz Frasier, and even Alanis (!!GAH!!). And while these are all similar and perfectly respectable artists (excluding perhaps the last), none of them quite seem to fit the bill. Kristy's new material sounds fresh and original, echoing of recognizable influences, but also transcending them. Rant-y? Yes. True? Possibly. Unnecessary? I hope not. Self-indulgent? Totally! ...Anyone else? - -- omicron ____________________________________________________________ "Though this be madness, yet there is method in 't" -Polonius / Hamlet: ActII, Scene II http://www.geocities.com/~voxweb VOX - The Web's first Kristy Thirsk fan site ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 08:45:57 -0500 From: "John Nogueira" Subject: Re: Justify My Love / Apologies Omicron wrote: >Also, I should apologize for my last mail concerning the Cranberries. >Truth is, I don't think they're that bad, I just dislike the way people >so often feel the need to pigeonhole musical styles (sorry, Mr. >Schwartz, this is not intended as a stab - d@mn, I'm apologizing a lot >here!). Very diplomatic. Reminds me of a music review for John Lennon's son's release. The reviewer didn't have anything good to say about it so all he wrote was "Thou shall not badmouth the son of genius" and that was it! Bizarre, eh? Anyway, it's great to hear that Kristy hasn't disappeared with the Madonna tribute, the Balligomingo project, and the two dates in Vancouver. Definitely building up some momentum here.
