I thought that fans of Kristy would also be fans of Heather Nova; so, I thought that I would pass along that the latest release by Heather, Siren, is well worth investigating -- but only after you've checked out her previous release -- Oyster. I just received it for my birthday (I'm 30 and surprisingly happy about it!). I also received CDs by The Sundays (poppy mellow Cocteau Twins?) and a Vancouver band (I think) called Sully (dream pop similar to Rose Chronicles -- two songs online at http://www.randommedia.com/sully ) Sully is in Toronto for two shows early September so I should be making plans to see them soon. Here are my personal highlights for this week if you're interested. Tuesday: Holly McNarland on MuchMusic Spotlight. Hoping for softer Holly a la Sour Pie instead of record company induced Alanis bandwagon a la Stuff Shirley Manson of Garbage on ABC's Politically Incorrect talk show. One word - purrrr Wednesday: Liz Phair on Jay Leno. Probably playing stuff from latest "whitechocolatespaceegg". She's a mom now! Thursday: Liz Phair on MuchMusic Spotlight Sarah McLachlan on MuchMusic's Egos and Icons series (9PM ET). As a fan since '88, I can rewitness how "my" Sarah became everybody's Sarah Saturday: Holly McNarland appears as part of MuchMusic's SnowJob '98. Leave it to MM to keep running this show over and over and over... Sheryl Crow on NBC's Saturday Night Live. SNL is still on the air? Happily, Sheryl will easily outlast this show. And lastly, I had to include the following unrelated nugget: Wednesday: Drew Carey Show 9PM ABC: Drew decides to resurrect his band and holds auditions; features guest appearances by Joe Walsh, Roy Clark, Dusty Hill, Jonny Lang, Lisa Loeb, Dave Mustaine, Rick Nielsen, Joey Ramone, Slash, Michael Stanley and Matthew Sweet Help me out now: Joe Walsh - ex Eagle, solo Roy Clark - Hee Haw banjo player? Dusty Hill - ? Jonny Lang - ? Lisa Loeb - solo Dave Mustaine - Megadeth Rick Nielsen - Cheap Trick Joey Ramone - Ramones Slash - Guns N Roses, Snakepit Michael Stanley - ? Matthew Sweet - solo J o h n N o g u e i r a L o n d o n O n t a r i o C a n a d a ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 22:46:40 PDT From: "Erika Fukumoto" Subject: very happy Hi, I think my week has just brightened up. On Saturday I took a quick peek of the new Nettwerk Store. I can say it's awesome. They are clearing out posters and they have a lot of funky stuff there, including the Mystery Machine "Heart Of Glass" vinyl on which Kristy appears. If anyone has free time, they should go check it out. When I was there, I bought a Tara MacLean and Delerium poster for $10 together. bye for now Erika ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of vicious-thorn-digest V2 #59 **********************************
