With the holiday season upon us, I was wondering if there are any Biblical references in the Rose Chronicles lyrics. I'm often amazed at how many references I hear or use during the course of an ordinary day. Every time Cherub is mentioned you have a Biblical reference, since Cherub is apparently the name of an angel, and angels are used brilliantly in the lyrics over and over again to craft some amazingly strong imagery, especially on Happily Ever After. "With a stillborn Cherub in her arms and how she held. . ." (Bruise) Many songs have themes related to the Bible, like Echo of Angels and Glide (Free Above) which talk about heaven and Brick and Glue which talks about dark angels and sin. I think some songs of course ask questions and explore different ideas about religion and spirituality. . .like Clouding Doubt, Awaiting Eternity, and Acquiesce to name a few. I love Awaiting Eternity's interesting take on heaven. "But fountains of joy have hollowed her eyes" (Awaiting Eternity) Sorry for the long post, I'm just kind of bored and I love the Rose Chronicles' lyrics so I don't like to miss an opportunity to talk about them.
