Which album (there's a word I haven't used in a while)? Actually, the album metaphor works if you consider that you might get the Cocteau Twins by playing the Rose Chronicles on a slower speed (thinking... thinking... ah yes, say 45 speed down to 33). That might explain why Liz is so hard to understand :) J o h n N o g u e i r a L o n d o n C a n a d a ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Dec 1997 10:37:34 -0700 From: "Jason Banaszak" Subject: (No Subject) What IS MuchMusic? Also the Cocteau Twins have a large array of styles, of which the Rose Chronicles encompass only a part. But I think that if you listen to "The Moon and the Melodies" for instance, or anything older than "Heaven or Las Vegas" You will see that they are quite different. I have been listening to the Cocteau Twins for Years and years and have all of their singles, imports, blah blah blah. I first discovered the Rose Chronicles in some small magazine i was reading. A reviewer was talking about "Shiver" and they said it was very reminiscent of the Cocteau Twins, so I went out and bought it. It didn't remind me of the Cocteau Twins too much, but I actually thought the album was better, in its own way. A little more rapid. The Rose Chronicles are a departure from the style of the Cocteau Twins towards a more rock-oriented sound, one that the Cocteau Twins themselves have seemed to be trying to make with their recent albums, although I can't say how successful they have actually been.
