I haven't gotten any mail from this list for a long time. Are there still fans out there? I'll drop you an e-mail soon!), there aren't too many postings on the list. Granted that Kristy's pretty much dropped off the face of the Earth and there's no indication where or when she might pop up again. Anyways, to hopefully get some posts and opinions... I've always been perculiar to Rose Chronicle's lyrics. A lot of the songs have a very dark demeanor to them--i.e. "See me dance through the noose/Will I choke to death as I'm laughing". Yet, in an interview, Kristy has said she holds fast and true to her Christian beliefs (no, I don't want to start a religion debate). What do you think are some of the meanings to some Rose Chronicles/Kristy Thirsk songs? One example, "Widsom" from Delerium's 'Karma' seems almost like a poetic suicide note...ending life to end the pain. I'd quote some of the lyrics, but I want to get them exact, and I don't have the CD with me. Any opinions would be cool, and you should probably post to the list. Cheers, Lawrence ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Nov 1997 10:24:21 -0700 From: "Jason Banaszak" Subject: RC Yeah, we need more discussion. I find myself waiting for people to post stuff, but maybe it would be better if we all just took initiative ourselves. Thank you for doing this for me. I will now try to comment on something often. As to the lyrics, I need them with me to recall any specifics. One thing that is great about Kristy is the use of her voice in conjunction with the words. Like that part "See me dance through the noose/Will I choke to death as I'm laughing" is really 'moving'. I can't really describe it in words. The way she sings 'laughing' sends me into a frenzy. There are various other instances, in fact so many I can not recall all of them. I love the lyrics, but the voice and melodies are what really do it for me. I don't know about you, but I would be content with Kristy describing how to make toast as long as she sings it in that way only she can. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have the great lyrics. Another singer/songwriter that uses similar lyrics and excellent singing voice is Peter Murphy. His voice is quite low, and rather captivating.
