[Bass Player Subject: Re: [VS] Ummm...Am I the only one here??? Hello Eivind, It's nice to know someone else exists... I was beginning to think I'd have to actually search on Betelgeuse to find another person. I realize that nothing new from the VB camp is out, but I have just discovered Anne Marie and the band, so it's all new to me. The problem is I can't find any CDs under $40 US plus no one in the US seems to carry the CDs at all. I'm relying on three things right now for my fix: - some subpar quality RealPlayer samples - a few partial mp3 files - Anne Marie's myspace page This music is like manna. I've been in the wilderness for years, wandering around and searching for something to fill my need - I've found it. Actually, I heard Anne Marie by just stumbling upon her name and researching a bit. I fell in love with her voice and now I can't get enough, though Velvet Belly in particular because the music is perfect. I could go on, but I won't right now...maybe later. :) And I do play bass guitar, yes! Unfortunately I don't have sufficient talent (or coordination) for drums, but I do sing backup and play enough guitar to write music. I look forward to further conversation. Thanks again for your reply! Regards from USA, Bob Eivind wrote: Yes, there is anybody out here, but this list is as quiet as a trip to the deep, outer space, e.g. somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuze, one sunny sunday morning when your neighbour hasn't yet awoken from last night's pubcrawl and started lamenting his hangover. Maybe this is stems from the fact that nothing much is happening (AFAIK) in Velvet Belly, and that we are still not finished listening to details and beauty in their albums, so we have retracted to some kind of hermit crab state, sitting under a stone awaiting the world's acceptance of Velvet Belly as the best band on the planet. Put plainly: It would be nice to discuss VB's (and maybe AM and the UV's) music here, but I understand this has been a news mailing list, and that the lack of messages comes from the lack of news. By the way, Bass Player: Are you a bass player? :-) Me too! Hello Tom, Thanks for the welcome! Actually, I forgot already what I had for breakfast this morning, so... Seriously, though - wanna help me figure out how to get some VB cds without remortgaging my house or moving to Norway (not that it sounds like a bad idea, actually)? Do any of the band ever show up on the list? I've been on a few lists in the past that were sometimes posted on by members of their respective bands. Devin Townsend, Opeth, and Type O Negative to name a few. It keeps morale up during off-times...and makes for an interesting Christmas card recipient list. :) Regards from the USA, Bob Thomas Williams wrote: It has been a couple of years since the last message!
