They're a Swedish band, more pop than Velvet Belly - can't remember what their main single is called (I first heard it about 2 or 3 years ago on a compilation CD from Sweden), but they're worth a listen. I saw them live for the first time last night (with a couple of other Swedish bands) at the Camden Monarch where Velvet Belly played in London earlier this year. Other than that - just went to Paris last week (working) and picked up some really good music over there - the latest St. Germain album (which has a nice jazzy vibe to it) and the new Vanessa Paradis album. There's a lot of Nordic dance/jazz music being released in France at the moment: Jay Jay Johansen and Lisa Ekdahl have been there to play recently, Illumination (from Norway) are DJing in Paris next week, and Svek and Jori Hulkkonen are really popular. The French certainly know good music when they hear it! - fLip - - -----Original Message----- From: Stefan Granbom [mailto:stefan.granbom@socmed.gu.se] Sent: 02 November 2000 18:37 To: velvet-station@smoe.org Subject: Re: [VS] Mine At 14:19 2000-10-20 EDT, Wmvrrvrrmm@aol.com wrote: > >In a message dated 20/10/2000 11:10:39, stefan.granbom@socmed.gu.se writes: > ><< The Swedish group Mine got a new single out now, it's called "wouldn't mind >the waiting", on Stockholm records (international release). The music is very soft, and she is a great singer, her voice reminds very much of Anne Marie's! I have heard 3 new songs, they sound a bit more air-friendly, it has gone from very soft songs to soft songs. The sound isn't as electronical as before, but i love to listen to her voice, it's really great. When they released their first album i thought it was the best record released under 1997. The new CD has the name 'freedom gone mad', released today i think. I will buy it within a few days. /Stefan ------------------------------ End of velvet-station-digest V3 #50 ***********************************
