Hi again Well, Yngve wants to know what our favourite Velvet Belly song is and why, and like I said yesterday (because I'm crap at only choosing 1): * Oystercatcher (live) * Wide Open Spaces (industrial mix) * one from the Colours album, whose name I couldn't remember. I've looked it up - "But" - and I like it because of its dynamics and contrasts - Actually, if you took Anne-Marie's vocals away, it sounds very U2ish (their Joshua Tree era). So which Velvet Belly songs does everyone else like and why? - Philippa - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Sep 1999 14:59:33 +0200 (CEST) From: Yngve Hauge Subject: Re: [VS] oh, just a little poll > Hi, > > We should try to get the noise level up here a bit. It was at the Quart Festival back in '93. As usual the first time you see them live you get hypnotized by Anne Marie's stage persona. Even though she was a bit uncertain and nervous than now it was still very obvious. Until one particular song I was unable to get past her and really listen to the music. The song is Flowers, and I can listen to that over and over again. The last time they did it they merged it with The Landing which was such an amazing act. I really hope they'll do that again in the future. It is so cool to notice that the audience except for those who already know the song thinks it is finished when they get to the "short" (varies pretty much) stop in the middle. - -- Yngve ------------------------------ End of velvet-station-digest V2 #39 ***********************************
