What?  You want me to choose just 1 song???  Impossible!

Well, when I see Velvet Belly play live, I love Oystercatcher, 
but when I'm listening to them on my stereo, I really like the 
industrial mix of Wide Open Spaces (the video's kinda cool 
too - even though I've only seen it a couple of times, it's 
very memorable - all black and red and speeded up images
of driving along a road).

There's one more song as well - something off the Colours
album (that I just heard for the first time over the weekend).

I can't put my finger on what it is that I like so much about these, 
but I think the contrasting mixture of Anne Marie's voice, 
loops, and the rest of the band being able to rock out a bit
more than usual might have something to do with it.  I like the 
way that Velvet Belly's music is so filmatic too - it leaves something 
to the imagination.

btw - My friend Jason isn't on the Velvet Station mailing list, but his
favourite song is Unreal - that really does it for him - he thinks it's gorgeous.

Subject: RE:[VS] oh, just a little poll

I have two favourites in particular: 'Our Happiness', from Lucia because it's 
simply a beautiful song with a twinge of sadness, and 'Mystery' from The Landing 
for much the same reason.  I like a touch of melancholy.  Also, they remind me 
of Norway and my friends there which is always a nice thing to be reminded 
about!
