The mag itself is on-line at www.topmag.co.uk but alas the article isn't included in this version. Still, it's the first piece I've ever come across about the band so pick up a copy and enjoy! Dick Baptiste ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 13:55:11 +0200 From: Philippa.Demonte@bmg.co.uk Subject: RE: [VS]: Velvet Belly Fan Page Well spotted, Dick! There was also a little article in Music Week a couple of weeks ago too: Norwegian act Velvet Belly last week recorded a cover of Kate Bush's The Man With the Child In His Eyes with Boilerhouse team Ben Wolff and Andy Dean at Sarm West Studios in West London. The collaboration is part of BMG UK international head of A&R Nick Stewart's mandate to trawl BMG rosters worldwide and find unknown developed artists - like Sara Evans and Jennifer Brown - - who stand a chance of breaking the UK. The track will be stripped onto the BMG Norway act's third album, Lucia, which won a Norwegian Grammy and was produced in Oslo by Erik Honore. Dean says - "They've had time for their sound and live performance to flourish away from the media, which just doesn't happen in this country. Their craftsmanship on stage is second to none." Band frontwoman Anne Marie Almedal adds, "Success here is important. Lots of Norwegian acts look to the UK as the place to make it and it's a challenge working with different producers." There should be a lot more Velvet Belly in the press later this month, and then, as far as I know, Easy is being released in the UK sometime in July. Hurrah! Watch this space! - Philippa - ....in London.....but going to Kristiansand next month for Quart Festival :) > -----Original Message----- > From: Baptiste Dick [SMTP:Dick.Baptiste@RSME.dti.gov.uk] > Sent: 04 June 1999 12:34 > To: Velvet Station; owner-velvet-station@smoe.org > Subject: RE:[VS]: Velvet Belly Fan Page > > Hi all > > For anyone interested there's a small article about VB in the Tower > Records free > mag 'Top'.
