Hmmm, I guess this song wasn't such a surprise for those of us who have seen VB a few times... The song he was referring to is "The Key" from the brilliant album "The Landing". A very good version at John Dee though... > Tell us more! OK, I'll mention a few things I remember... You know, those of us living in Oslo have the very nice opportunity to go and see VB quite often, so it is not so easy for me to remember the differences from show to show, but I'll try... They started with "Wide open spaces". After that, I do not remember them in line... but I remember they played He's Packing, Trick, The Key, Undertow, Loneliness, Oyster Catcher, Fast & Far away and a few other songs before the break. Fast & Far away was interesting, I cannot remember having heard that one live before (except an acoustic version), but I don't remember too well :-) After the break they played Untold (?) and "Hotel", a new song. I did like the new song, but I guess I will have to hear it a few times more to get a good feeling... The band seemed quite enthusiastic, especially Anne Marie and Vidar (perhaps they are the most enthustiastic types in the band...), but not very communicative, though, just a "takk" here and a "vi skal spille *sang*" there. I miss the feeling I got when I saw VB at John Dee in October 1997. I remember Anne Marie saying lots of funny things from the stage. But then I heard her saying some months later that the others in the band thought she said too many "stupid things" from stage. Perhaps she's become too shy? I hope VB will release some new stuff soon, as I have seen quite a few of their shows since the last album, and I think the concerts seem a little less inspired than earlier (and of course that it would be fun for me to hear the new songs...). You mentioned in a mail a week ago that there would be British journalists at the show. Have you seen any reports in British media? - -Christian (who still hasn't returned to earth after the flight with Nick Cave in Bergen 3 weeks ago...) ------------------------------ End of velvet-station-digest V2 #27 ***********************************
