And to all of you, I say, if you come over to the UK before June, go and visit Elin in Cardiff - it's only 2 1/2 hours by train from London. I went there at the weekend to see Elin - we had a great time, except that some pub/disco wouldn't let me in just because I was wearing trainers, and an Italian restaurant we went to was....hm.....surreal - so many bizarre things happened there, that it would have made a great scene from a comedy movie. I have to go now........but, maybe we should do a Top 10 of our favourite home pages on the internet - I've heard that Belle & Sebastian's is supposed to be good - Philippa > -----Original Message----- > From: Yngve Hauge [SMTP:onealien@mo.himolde.no] > Sent: 17 January 1999 22:34 > To: Velvet Station > Subject: [VS] Ohhh, in all this silence > > Hi all, > > So many things have happened lately and all of them are incredible. > The best news however you can see at the following URL: > http://www.best.com/~tyrtle > After she disappeared completly from the net almost without a sound > 2 years ago Sage Lunsford is now back online. Bah. Their loss. >was....hm.....surreal - so many bizarre things happened there, that >it would have made a great scene from a comedy movie. LOL. Like when the waiter threw the chairs around... or did you miss that part? Might have been when you went to the toilette. It sure was an odd place. Wonder if he drank the rest of the wine after we'd left... Even though it is not back yet my favorite will always be the Word of the Tyrtle at http://www.best.com/~tyrtle - The way she is combining humour, seriousness, wonderful graphics and just being herself noone will ever be able to copy. 2. From this location you can find links to some of my alltime favorite artists - http://www.smoe.org - It is also where the Ecto Guide to Good Music is located and of course it is the homebase for the Velvet Station and most of my favorite mailinglists - Ecto, Frontporch (the mailinglist which was started in the wake of the disappearing of The Word of the Tyrtle), Precious Things, Trajectory (Veda Hille), Siblings (Jane Siberry), st (Suddenly Tammy!). 3. The pictures at this site are just beyond imagination. http://www.photo.net - quality, fast loading, great stories and a markedplace for used photo equipment. 4. CJ Cherryh has created a page about her writing - www.cherryh.com - but she has been so busy lately that she is between updates (the colours are aweful to say the least). I'm always amazed by people who are working all the time and still got time to answer fans. 5. Amazon got a great customer in me - www.amazon.com, www.amazon.co.uk, www.amazon.de - cause I love to read and they got this policy to never give up finding a book you are looking for (I've got several out of print books from them!!) If you haven't been there yet, go :) 6. Just for being so cheap - www.absound.ca - $10 for a new CD is not bad at all. And they got all the Veda Hille albums (yay!!). Of course www.musicblvd.com, www.songs.com and www.ubl.com should be mentioned here also. 7. This page is so remarkable cause of the design - www.myryad.co.uk - Not only cause they make great hi-fi equipment. They got great solutions on elsewhere's overused effects. I'll come back to the last 3 as I can't remember any more from the top of my head. - -- Yngve ------------------------------ End of velvet-station-digest V2 #9 **********************************
