I've only got two Veda albums: Spine and Field Study. Of the two, I always like Field Study a bit more. Maybe it's because I got it after seeing her play at EctoFest West, and so some of the songs have nice associations. Or maybe I just really like her piano and the architecture of the album. mmm, it's good! But recently, I sat down to listen to Spine again. Although I still don't think it has quite the entrancing cohesion of Field Study, damn if there aren't some amazing songs on there. She really does have a way of laying it down, with interesting musical choices and heart-clenching lyrics...although sometimes her style seems to tend a little bit far into the poetic, robbing it perhaps of some personal impact...at least for me. I like abstrusely beautiful poetic images, so I don't mind it, but sometimes I wonder what sort of songs she'd write with an...easier to find personal bent. Eh, she is what she is, and that's a wonderful thing. So, not much point to this post, except to just to enthuse. Wow, she's great! I've got to get the rest of her albums, and maybe move somewhere she'll come to on tour... ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V8 #8 ******************************
