Well, Fog has more experience then I do with this. I had just glanced at the web page, and found comments like this: "Personal accounts are free, but may not receive credit card payments. " Personal account: send money: free receive money: free Despite the credit card claims, the on-site demo shows using a credit card to send $25 to someone who doesn't even have a paypal account yet. Upshot - I'm confused (though we knew that going in). After someone hits me with my first payment, I'll update you on what happened. neal ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Aug 2002 16:39:35 -0000 From: "neal copperman" Subject: more on paypal Ok, I got my first payment (Thanks JeffW!), and it looks fine. Jeff sent me $3 and my accounts shows I received $3. It looks like I have a few ways to get/use the money, so I'm perfectly satisfied with that. It may work differently with outside the US exchanges (as indicated on the web page). neal ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 Aug 2002 13:22:58 -0700 From: guapo stick Subject: Re: paypal when we last left our heroes, neal copperman exclaimed: >Well, Fog has more experience then I do with this. " you can upgrade a personal account to a (i think they call it) premier account for free. that will allow you to receive payments from a credit card -- but that's when the skim comes into play. regardless of what your account type is, if someone sends you a payment made from a bank account or a from an existing paypal balance, there is no skim. woj ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V6 #37 *******************************
