Actually, the conditions for Canadians musicians going south for tours have recently worsened (well, that's subjective). A local musician here in Winnipeg had has entire US tour killed yesterday because of the changes. One has to apply for the papers 90 days in advance (as in, no last minute pops down to the States for Veda, but rather cumbersone tours must be plannes eons in advance) and risk having to pay $1000. This, naturally, is set up to hinder revenue grabs for large corporations. Naturally, the only people it really hurts is the smaller musicians who can't afford to pay the price and who don't have the luxury of having their tours booked two years in advance. Fun will be had by all. Just that when she was opening for the Rheostatics last fall at the Commodore Ballroom (Vancouver) she played most of her set with most of their band (and hers) on stage and mentioned plans to record with just that group. It was very loud and very cool so I'll be looking forward to whatever comes from them sharing a recording studio, assuming that's still her plan. - - Eric ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Jul 2001 22:11:19 -0700 From: "Eric Simons" Subject: Re: goddess in the house > Just that when she was opening for the Rheostatics last fall at the Commodore > Ballroom (Vancouver) she played most of her set with most of their band (and > hers) on stage... And I forgot to mention... that same wonderful pairing will be playing at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival on Saturday July 14th. Just in case anyone didn't know already. - - Eric ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V5 #42 *******************************
