I'd been a little down an A&B in the past for slow processing, but apparently they've gotten much better! I placed the order 3/20 for Study and a couple other things, order was obviously held up as FS was a preorder, but they emailed me 4/11 and it arrived from Canada on the 14th. I'm liking Field Study very much, it is almost completely just Veda on piano, and some very interesting almost experimental sounding piano techniques here and there. I'm not very good at "reviewing" and it probably doesn't matter what I'd say to that end, everybody here must have. Just thought you'd all like to know it is shipping. Unrelated, I had thought that Weeping Tile's Valentino was out of print, but A&B had it listed (as a back order) and it arrived too. With a little sticker acknowledging Sarah Harmer. Interesting. Perhaps someone decided to print another run since the recent recognition of her latest? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Apr 2001 01:28:54 +0100 From: skuffer Subject: guess and confess ;o) dear all! i found that pretty interesting interview with veda at http://www.moregoatthangoose.com/interviews/vedahille.htm and wasn4t sure if it had been posted before.. besides that there are now lyrics, real-audio4s of the new album on vedahille.com :o)) (though i kind of enjoyed that funny "lyric-guessing" last time *g*) best wishes sabrina ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2001 19:55:47 -0400 From: "Foghorn J Fornorn" Subject: RE: guess and confess ;o) Field Study comes with a lyric/notes booklet. There's not a lot of information on the venue's web site, but I put a link to it on the Trajectory news page (http://www.smoe.org/meth/news.html). Also, at the same site Sabrina posted that has the interview with Veda, there's also an interview with Ford Pier. It's at http://www.moregoatthangoose.com/interviews/fordpier.htm. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2001 22:57:01 -0700 From: RAVEN@igc.org Subject: Re: berkeley show On Sun, 15 Apr 2001 20:19:25 -0400, meredith wrote: >Veda will be performing at Rose's House Of Music in Berkeley on June 12. Great news! For those not familiar with Rose Street House of Music, it is a private home offering frequent house concerts (sometimes 3 or 4 per week), and is very intimate (40 people max). You leave your shoes at the door, and the venue is "scent free". >There's not a lot of information on the venue's web site, >but I put a link to it on the Trajectory news page >(http://www.smoe.org/meth/news.html). There will not be much information on their web site for awhile because the women who produce the shows (and live there) are on tour until April 22/23, but I can describe a 'typical' show there: 1. There are no advance tickets, you usually pay $10-20, sliding scale... you decide what you can afford. 2. Evening shows usually start at 8pm on Fridays/Saturdays, and 7:30 on other nights. 3. They do not advertise their address, since it is their home, but they are located on Rose Street (hence their name), near Martin Luther King Blvd, in Berkeley... their phone number has further info 510/594-4000 ext MUS but remember, they are currently on tour, so if you leave them a message, it's unlikely they will reply until they return home.
