I'm experiencing that right now, with a Belgian singer/songwriter named An Pierle. I have a feeling you Veda fans may like her, and I certainly think she fits well with the other artists on the "ecto" webpage. An's a classically trained pianist, and her debut album, Mud Stories, is just her and her piano (alternating between a grand and an electric). This means, of course, that she's suffered endless comparisons to Tori Amos, but she is certainly no mere imitator. Her music is kind of tense, always a push-and-pull between sweetness and dark, softness and anger. There's very little info to be found about her, but a fan webpage, http://mudstories.cjb.net, has some free mp3's to download and general information. I highly, highly, recommend this girl!
