I've switched over to this email addy because poor lil' bayouorestes got all filled up, he drank too much Mr. Pibb and couldn't finish his dinner, so I guess it's time for the rise of the all-new-and-improved heycongregation@yahoo.com! I haven't unsubscribed from these lists on the bayouorestes side quite yet, we here at John Drummond Headquarters are still making sure this is a good fit... but we're hoping everything will turn out for the best... so um... yeah, this is John. Here, take a gander: maybe i'm complicated don't know how to stop and live always looking for something poor little singer with a plastic pig always making it harder poor little singer with her steel strings wound crawling on towards Glory wishing i could stay around ...granted, there are certain tonal differences, and Veda is being more vindictive toward herself, whereas Katell is just expressing recognition and regret at her weirdness... but still... it's funny to me that I was so tired and had finished reading a few posts on the Ponybride controversy and then put _Jet_ on and all of a sudden heard every single line of that verse and it's bullet of truth sinking into my head. Or whatever. But that's just my opinion on the whole topic, again, of course. ;D John ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I think she is saying "inane" (although neighing does seem to make sense with the title), cuz she told a little anecdote about it being referred to as "that inane song". She also introduced it as sort of a love song; something she wrote after falling in love again. It strikes me that with this angle in mind, you can apply that whole idea that was mentioned about the "artist" taking pleasure in simpler things like pop music. The idea of enjoying stuff that isn't so high brow seems to definately be in the song, but rather than being from the point of view of an artist, I see it as being from the point of view of a woman in love. I see it as a celebration, or even just and acknowledgement of the fluffy/sweet/simple happiness that one gets out of a new love. That sunny, pop-music happiness that we feel so guilty for, because we're... "deep", ya know, and that's supposed to be superficial. It's embracing the simple giddiness of love. Am I making any sense? - --Anna ===== ~-~-~-~-~-~-~- jelloanna@yahoo.com ICQ:18982112 ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yeah, now that I see it all in one place, it really is. Yow. Does anyone else see the Nick Cave influence in "The Boy In The Woods"? The first time I heard it I actually thought it was a Nick Cave song. The imagery and the feel of the song is very much like his stuff. It specifically reminds me of his novel _And The Ass Saw The Angel_, which is hands down the most disturbing piece of fiction I've ever read. I keep meaning to ask Veda if she's read the book, but I always forget. +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V3 #105 ********************************
