I saw Veda play last week, and she was all aflutter about them. She was like, "We're selling t-shirts! Oh, and there are albums too. But t-shirts!" In any case, they come in a few different colours and they have the cover of "You Do Not Live in this World Alone" printed on them. They are actually very snazzy, and I am kicking myself for having only had enough money for the ticket when I went to the show. I really wish I woulda snagged one. - --Anna ===== ~-~-~-~-~-~-~- jelloanna@yahoo.com ICQ:18982112 ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi, I hadn't noticed the triplet connection. Right now I'm in phase 3. Phase 1 was this is wonderful, different, interesting, and I love it. Phase 2 was "I love it but I miss the passion of Spine." Now that I'm in phase 3, the songs are becoming etched into my brain. I'm starting to have some of them running through my head all day. The hooks are there but "stealthy" and as usual it's going to take longer than a few weeks - or months. My favorite songs right now are: Ponybride, Killzone!, Born Lucky, All Fur (3/4), and A Peculiar Value(3/4). All Fur has been repeating in my head for several days now. Tomorrow I might discover another favorite. Maybe next month I will have gone through them all. Veda's albums always creep up on me this way. I too would like the lyrics. There is a link to the lyrics on Veda's site, but they don't work. They do for "Here is a Picture." No reference on the site regarding the companion book mentioned on the CD. I'm sure this will be fixed soon so be patient. Meredith wrote: >It took me a little while to get into this one, but that is usually the >case with Veda's stuff. I'm not sure what you mean by the high-pitched tone. I hope I don't listen now and focus on it. There is a single pitch that sounds something like a French Horn but it fades in and out. The beginning of the song is great. That lead (guitar?) is a great hook. It's 4/4 for 2 measures, then adds 2 beats where the guitar sounds like it reverses winding back to 4/4. Wonderful effect. >However, that said, I still *love* this album. "3x thin" is the song of >all of them that has reached out and grabbed me as the standout track, the >song that gives me the same sort of fuzzy feeling inside that I get when I >hear "26 Years" or "Boat Ride To Skidegate" or "Precious Heart" - it's >almost like I can feel the music resonating within me saying "mmmh yes, >this is *right*." The calm, almost resigned way in which she sings this >sad story kills me ... and the lyrics! "3x thin" hasn't grabbed me yet. But since you mentioned Precious Heart... It's one of my favorite Veda songs. Love the line "don't confuse the light and heat." It's amazing how she can make those few words mean so much. >Okay, so all you Americans on the list, here's what we have to do. Veda >needs capital in order to get down to the States to play again. She needs >to sell a lot of CDs to make that happen. So you need to get all your >friends to order this new album, and even if you've already gotten one, >Christmas is coming, so order more! Let's buy all of her CDs so she can >afford to bring the boys back south of the border (or at least come solo -- >I don't care, do you?). She at least needs to get back to New York so I >can see her play again. ;> Deal? To tell you the truth I don't know anyone else that likes Veda. My partner eventually ends up liking most of what I listen to, but I don't think he's crazy about Veda. I wasn't either at first. His comment on first hearing the new one was, "Well it's different." He's still not crazy about "Spine." Oh well... go figure. I have a feeling that if I did get it for someone as a Christmas gift it would be played once and filed away or sold. As much as I love Veda I prefer to get people gifts I think they'll like. I'm still not sure what kept me listening, but I'm glad I did. It was written Lavida Bond (although Veda did write the music). Rachel. ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V3 #98 *******************************
