My english is not very good, so please try to understand what I might have tried to say/write. Iīm sorry!! Hi Heidi! I think you know about the live cd "women in (e)motion" allready; but I donīt know if itīs easy to get it in australia. Itīs released by a small german label, so perhaps (if you have any problems) I could help you some way, cause I live in germany (thatīs a different kind of tyranny of distance, because Veda is giving concerts in germany from time to time and itīs easy to buy her cdīs; but itīs hard to get any information, exspecially tour-dates). Iīve taped a radio-show (damn of my english, I donīt know how to translate "Sendung"), but there is not very much music in it an all the talking about Veda and her work is (in?) german. It takes 45 minutes, but I itīs not really good. I think itīs not worse for you to get it, isnīt it? I was at a veda concert in nuerberg/germany last saturday (08/31). I think nobody else was there (are there any other gemans on this list?), so I decided to write something about it, although my english is not very good (and thatīs a compliment by myself...). The concert took place during the "Bardentreffen" (I donīt know how to translate this - "Barden" were a kind of "storysingers" in the middleage, I think) and nuernberg was full of people. I did not like the Bardentreffen at all, but I enjoyed vedas performance very much. Veda played 1 1/2 hour (in a ruine of a church with totaly blue sky above). The acoustic was not as good as it should have been, but Vedaīs voice was much lovlyer (?) than in other concerts (that would be hard to explain in german language for me as well, so Iīll not try to do so in a foreign one). Veda played a lot of songs from her new cd and form "here is a picture". She is not very well known here in germany and I think only a view peopl have known her before the concert, but most people liked her and bought her cdīs right after the concert. Well, I think thatīs all boring stuff to you - so Iīm going to finish this mail (and go on to find out something about a concert by Veda in oldenburg next thursday). I didn't know Veda was touring Europe right now. I checked her official site as well as Meth's but didn't find any informations about it. Do you have a list of her upcoming european appearances? Are they limited to Germany? I donīt have a list of her upcoming european appearances. But Veda is going to play in Oldenburg next thursday (08/05/99, Wasserturm, Stau 144) and I think, if she is once in european she will give more concerts than one in Nuernberg and one in Oldernburg (donīt you think so?). Perhaps I can call her label (Tradition + Moderne) in bremen and ask for more concerts. Mostly they know about Vedaīs concerts in Germany (Europe?), although they are not very interested in giving informations to (stupid) Veda-fans (in fact they are very unfriendly at phone, but until there is no other way to find out something about vedaīs concerts Iīll phone them). Please do! I haven't heard anything about European shows at all, or they'd definitely be on the site. I'll see if I can find anything out myself, but if anyone has info, please post it here! There are a few others on the list who I'm sure would want to know. +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | ectofest '99: sat. sept. 4, 1999 kenosia park, danbury, ct | | http://www.ectofest.org | +==========================================================================+ ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V3 #68 *******************************
