Hi Richard, I searched the web for more information than I thought possible re: tenor guitars... Here are some of the standard tunings (found at http://www.malaspina.com/harp/guitar/tunings.htm) Tenor Guitar: G D A E (one octave lower than a mandolin) D G B E (1st four strings of the modern guitar) D G B E (same as above, with the 4th string tuned an octave high, in a re-entrant tuning) There were all sorts of other interesting tidbits I found. For example, Martin makes tenor guitars. there are also tenor banjoes AND L. Ron Hubbard, of the dianetics/Church of Scientology fame, played a tenor guitar (that looks shockingly like Ani Difranco's). Sorry I can't be of more help! Stella wasn't made for her, Stella was adopted. Stella's a company name, one of the more popular tenor guitar makers. Actually, Oh Susannah plays one and if you look at her albums, the name appears on them as something (pardon me, my mind went suddenly and horribly blank and I have no idea what the word is that I'm looking for). > All of her guitars are 4-string. I have a couple of miniature guitars (halfway between a normal guitar and a ukelele) and they have similar tones. Guitars get boring. Plus, you can get a greater drone effect from a tenor guitar, without it sounding overwhelming simplistic and boring, as sometimes an openly tuned six-string can. Easy to play, too. But I won't speculate as to Veda's reasons. Rachel Who has returned safely from her Eastern romp, despite the blue cheese. ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V3 #40 *******************************
