Does anybody know of a possible Toronto show any time soon? I'd love to see her but more importantly, I fear for my friend Ali's death because she is so in love with Veda that she forgets to breathe sometimes. It's time for her to see her. If anyone knows of possible Ontario dates PLEASE do post them. Thanks a lot- Laura ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Oct 1998 12:18:23 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: The Mercury Lounge--ugh. Hi! I think it's a great place to see an intimate show, and I've seen some of the best performances of my life there (Katell Keineg and Milla Jovovich come most quickly to mind). The best part about it is the fact that the bar and the performance space are separated by a soundproof door, and at least when I've been there, the people in the performance space have definitely been there to hear the music, so the audience has been paying attention and quiet. It's rare, especially in NYC to be part of an attentive audience. I'm excited to get to see Veda do her own set there. And, as a special bonus Mila Drumke is also on the bill that night! She's another one of my faves, and it's been a long time since I've seen her play. Yay. I'd *much* rather see Veda there than at the Bottom Line, with its uncomfortable chairs and claustrophobic seating (did anyone say "firetrap"?) and horribly overpriced (not to mention just plain horrible) food and drinks and inherent snobby attitude. > But, of course, I'll be there. I'd be there if she was playing the G > train at 3 in the morning...sigh. :) I'd be there even if she were playing Irving Plaza. Now *that* is a hellhole in the truest sense of the word. Then again, I know people who love that pit. Guess that just goes to show that in venues as well as everything else, mileage can (and does) vary. :) +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY: the Veda Hille mailing list *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V2 #108 ********************************
