I hope this finds everyone well and not pining away too hard for spring, after the taste many of us got last weekend. History tells us it has to arrive for good sometime. :) I'm just popping in to let y'all know that there will be a post coming soon to this list (and to all of the lists run out of smoe.org) by Mike Connell, who is organizing a fund drive to help keep smoe.org alive and functional. smoe.org is a labor of love which exists thanks to Jeff Wasilko and the two aging SUN Sparc stations living in his closet. What started as a lark to give a bunch of friends cool e-mail addresses has turned into a vital musical resource, providing web space for massive projects such as the Ectophiles Guide to Good Music and a home for several mailing lists including those for Jewel, Paula Cole, Tori Amos, Happy Rhodes, Jane Siberry, and of course Veda Hille. (For a complete listing of what's here, see .) The equipment that keeps smoe.org alive needs to be replaced, and soon. Jeff may be an aspiring yuppie (;>) but he's not made of money, and he's certainly not making any running this operation. Buying the server upgrade smoe.org needs is not an inexpensive proposition, so Jeff is hoping that the people who benefit from smoe.org's existence will do what they can to help. Within the next day or two, Mike will post the details of what we're calling the smoe beg-a-thon. We're not asking for everyone to cough up buku bucks here, but if you can spare even a few dollars to help out, it will be appreciated. This isn't going to turn into an annual thing like your local public radio station. You'll also never have to pay a fee to participate in a mailing list housed at smoe.org. It's just an effort to get the right equipment in place to make sure smoe.org doesn't crash and go away (which would be a Very Bad Thing). Thanks in advance for your attention and your participation. I now return you to your regularly scheduled white noise. :) +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ ------------------------------ End of trajectory-digest V2 #22 *******************************
