It was really magical. She said she's been recording in NYC and wanted to play the new songs live. Things were a little rough around the edges, but there wasn't a bad song in the set--lots of quintessential Beth lyrics. She played harmonica on one or two songs. It was a very small venue and she was sitting playing guitar, so it was hard to see her. She had another guitar player, a stand-up base, and a drummer with her. They only had time to play one old one--Best Bit--and they really seemed to enjoy playing it after the tension of working out the new songs. The album is going to be called something like "When We Begin," but I don't know when it's scheduled for release. Here are some highlights: - - She played only new songs(nervously) and closed with Best Bit - - The new album will be called What We Begin (there is also a song with the same name- which she plays on the Largo bootleg that is floating around) - - She mentioned that shell be getting into the studio to record very very soon - - M. Ward was there instead of Ted. Im a little out of the loop..so Im not sure if ted is on tour or what? - -New joke was told: "How many folk singers does it take to change a light bulb?" " Two. One to change it and one to write a song on how great the last one was" - - She had a very hard time tuning last night. She played what we begin totally out of tune. - - I took some pictures with my phone (low quality but pretty up close): http://mattsix.textamerica.com - --matt ------------------------------ End of trailer-park V5 #3 *************************
