She has submitted a studio version of this track to the forthcoming Warchild charity record "Hope" (Paul McCartney, Billy Bragg and Moby, amongst others, also contribute songs) "Ooh Child" was originally done by Chicago soul group The Five Stairsteps. All five members were actual brothers and sisters, and their somewhat odd name derives from the band's mother, Betty Burke, who remarked one day that her five musical offsprings resembled stair steps when they were lined-up next to each other according to age. The original actually sold over a million upon its release in 1970. Beth's version sounded fantastic at the RAH, her performance of the song in solo acoustic mode really worked well. I'm looking forward to hearing the album version - the sales of which help support children that are victims of war. For a change, wouldn't it be nice if there was a sudden outbreak of world peace.
