It did not disappoint tonight with a beautifully serene show by Beth Orton and her backing trio amidst the threat of local tornado watches. Beth was in strong voice and spirit and seemed genuinely touched by the attentive and appreciative crowd, playing for roughly one hour and forty minutes including a three song encore. A softer "Thinking About Tomorrow" was a hi-light for me, though every song seemed to reach dreamy heights. The night's only false note was an occasionally glitchy "Concrete Sky," but this only provided a moment of levity between Orton and guitarist Ted Barnes. Her gift seems rooted in an ability to fall away from the frenetic harshness of life and play in the undercurrents, a muse beneath the surface, like catching snow on her tongue. Thanks for a wonderful night, Beth, a canopy before the portending storms. Best regards, Robert ------------------------------ End of trailer-park-digest V3 #110 **********************************
