Dreamweaver is made for people who don't know much html and want to build websites can use that program. I've heard it can be a confusing program depending on how deep you want to go with it. Director is a program that makes shockwave applications and programs. Check out http://www.shockwave.com to see what I mean. Director is similar to Flash but its a lot more complex and can do a lot more. So it really depends on what you are trying to do if you are trying to buy one of these programs.
