I am going to play this album many many times in the near future. In fact, the new Beth (and the new Bruce Springsteen) have unseated my continual Bowie, Moby, Busta Rhymes listening as I prepare to go see Area 2. Little things are starting to grab me. I was not trying to insinuate that the album is bad. far from it. But I have to figure out what kind of an album it is. _Trailer Park_ had a thematic unity that was easy to spot. _Central Reservation_ had fabulous lyrical content along with a folkier feel that really grabbed me instantly. Echoing what another lister said, "Feel to Believe" is my fave Beth track of all time. And though it did not wake me out of a dead sleep, metaphorically, it certainly did. I agree that "Anywhere" is a break out track. I have been listening to just that one several times. I like "God Song" too. Others will take more time to get their groove on. peace chris ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Aug 2002 11:41:15 -0400 From: "gale kessler" Subject: Re: Beth Photos on Front and Back Cover "Nicholas Grundy" wrote > I'd recommend the new Flaming Lips album, which is also in the 2-for-22 at > Virgin, if anyone needs a recommendation to go with Beth. > > Nick. my tenth of a cent: the new Lips has some good songs but is a very failed concept album with a lot of begging-to-be-skipped filler. get another copy of The Soft Bulletin instead. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Aug 2002 22:52:01 -0700 (PDT) From: Matt Larsen Subject: Chicago - Tuesday Night Hello all - I have a pair of tickets for Tuesday night's show at the Vic Theatre in Chicago. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend due to a funaeral that I will be at that evening. So, it's first come, first serve on these!! I am not asking anything for them, but I wouldn't complain if a few bucks were offered. If not, life goes on. If you WILL use them that evening to go see her, they are yours. Please keep in mind that these are first come, first serve. If you are interested and can use them Tuesday evening, please CALL me on my cell, rather than email me, as I will not be checking my email much between now and then. The number is 414-530-8861. We can discuss details then and feel free to call anytime. If I don't answer, please leave a message. Hope this helps someone, rather than getting tossed in the garbage!
