Greetings all, and thanks to the many who have been reporting on Beth's tour. I especially enjoyed reading about the lucky fan who happened upon Beth in the hotel lobby. I'm sure I would be similarly tongue-tied! Am very excited that Beth will be here in Washington, D.C. at the 9:30 Club on Saturday. I have been mesmerized by her there twice before, but both times *many* people were talking throughout her appearance. This obviously doesn't impact on a flat-out rock and roll show, but during a performance like Beth's with many quiet and delicate moments, it totally ruins the show. I wish Beth would tell everyone to shut up, as I have seen Neko Case do. Talking and virtually ignoring the performer is actually endemic to the 9:30 and to many clubs here. The only place where the audience is respectful and the venue actively suppresses this is the Birchmere, where I had hoped Beth would play. So, excited, but dreading it. Anyone have this problem at her shows?
