(I won't get to see the show 'til the beeb sends a tape to Canada, so, if anyone does watch - let me know what you think...) cheers, Adrian ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Dec 1999 06:41:41 -0800 From: Elizabeth Hahn Subject: Re: song of songs... off-topic, BBC Panorama Adrian, There was no mention of a recording being made, but I'll let you know if I hear anything. This concert was held in an old stone Episcopal church which is being restored for art performances. It was a really gorgeous venue. The music just soared all night! The concert was phenomenal. All of the performers put on a great show, though Martha Wainwright (daughter of Loudon III and Kate McGarrigle and sister of Rufus)provided more rough spots than anyone else. Beth was enchanting as ever, her renditions of those classics heartfelt and soulful. I felt really lucky to be there. What a great present! I almost got to talk to Beth after the show, but a short girl with long hair monopolized Beth's time and someone pulled Beth away before I got my chance to thank her for the show and ask her about any other upcoming performances. I'm wondering if she's performing anywhere else in the near future- the last two dates over the past month weren't posted on any concert listings that I usually check. I found out about both this and the Jeff Buckley tribute show through mailing lists. Does anyone know of any other upcoming shows? My dad still needs a Christmas present idea from me...
