Clive is chiefly responsible for Beth's relaunch in America. He also masterminded the resurgence in Santana's career, got TAFKAP back in the majors, and launched Dido. And that's just in the past year! BMG is mighty foolish to force him out; Davis made Arista what it is today. Hell, he started the whole label! LA Reid of LaFace Records will take over. Heaven help us now... That man could do no wrong it seemed. Why in the world would he be forced out!? The Man himself is denying he's being forced out. He says he's at the peak of his powers at age 66 and that Artista's sales and profits have never been better. Confusion broke out over a so-called "succession plan" associated with the expiration of Davis' current contract in June of 2000. The story gained currency over parent company BMG's policy of forced retirement at age 60. So we can breathe easy for a few months more, at least...or not. Today's New York Post insists the story is true; check it out at http://www.nypost.com/business/18325.htm Take care, Chris ------------------------------ End of trailer-park-digest V2 #218 **********************************
