Do any of you have any live Beth shows to trade? I have a few myself and would greatly appreciate it if you personally emailed me with your trade list. Also, do any of you have a copy of Beth's 1993 Japanese release, Superpinkymandy? I am looking for this album and any help would be appreciated. Hi Jen, everyone, The OLGA has a few of those, but not all. I think it just has a live version of "Someone's Daughter" and "Live as You Dream". The newer ones aren't there. However, I know how to play most of them, so if I have a few minutes at work today I'll tab a few of them. When I went to the Beth show in Pittsburgh I sat on the front row and watched her fingers the whole time and wrote down what she was playing. I know, I felt like a dork, but it was worth it. :) Have a good one, Chelsea ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Aug 1999 14:06:29 -0500 From: "amber elias" Subject: spain someone mentioned spain! they are so wonderful. and i love the new chemical brothers track that hope sandoval sings on. it's amazing! well, enough of my pointlessness for today... *amber* *********************************** chickclick.com http://www.chickclick.com girl sites that don't fake it. http://www.chickmail.com sign up for your free email. *********************************** ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Aug 1999 21:06:37 GMT From: "Molly Malone" Subject: Re: spain >From: "amber elias" >To: trailer-park@smoe.org >Subject: spain >Date: Wed, 04 Aug 1999 14:06:29 -0500 > >someone mentioned spain! they are so wonderful. and i love the new > >chemical brothers track that hope sandoval sings on. it's amazing! 'someone mentioned spain'. that would be offending my naming sensibilities. You were supposed to say, it was that guy, who jumped out of the shower, at the risk of life and limb, just to turn the radio in his bathroom up!! I caught Spain, about 3/4 years ago, in a lovely little suburban pub in Brunswick, which is Melbourne's own answer to Bohemian culture. They are a slow, moody blues / jazz outfit, lots of slow, slow riffs, breathy vocals, and a touch of jazz horns. Spain has a web site which is run by this ace Norwegian bloke, named Jan. The URL is http://home.sol.no/~jsaghaug/spshe.htm I haven't heard much of the new album, but I know that the Australian version contains bonus tracks, come to think of it, I think every CD that hits these shores contains bonus tracks. And to answer *occys* question - the sessions on west 54th street are running at 7:30pm on Channel V. I had a gander at a mate's guide, and it seems that they are running them, the same way the web site has them listed, so my guess is it'll be late next month. If I get a chance to tape it, I'll send you a copy. So, I hope that covers everything I have to do. the cows are calling, i'd better go. So, here it is....again.....for the second time. I just got back from the WXPN Mini-Concert. It was held in a small recording studio called Indre Studios, located in an alley in South Philadelphia. The setting was quite interesting, as South Philly is an ethnic italian neighborhood. Most of the film "Rocky" was shot on those same streets..... (sorry about the gratuitous Rocky reference). Anyway, the studio had risers set-up at one end for the band, with a few sofas and a few rows of chairs lined up. I counted seats for about 75 people. Beth and Ted played guitar. There was a piano player off to the side, almost in the audience. The setlist was, and correct me if I made a mistake: Pass in Time Sweetest Decline (umm.....do I remember correctly?) Blood Red River Devil Song Stolen Car Central Reservation Someone's Daughter Beth wanted to know how we could do such crazy things at all times of the day......namely, how we all could get off work for a show at 5 o'clock. In Britain, we'd never get away with it. Afterwards, Beth signed autographs, and posed for photos (including one with me!). Yep, she wore her floppy brown hat. We were asked to turn off our cellular phones....so I'm assuming the session was recorded. I'd stay tuned to the World Cafe show on the PRI network...I suspect you'll hear some of the show.
