On August 2, Beth will play a small show in a South Philadelphia recording studio for the Philly radio station, WXPN. Tickets are reserved for contributing members of the station. WXPN is the home of the nationally syndicated radio show, "The World Cafe", broadcast on the PRI network (Public Radio International). Check out their website at www.xpn.org Indre studios hosts the recording sessions for the show, so we can only assume this is a World Cafe recording session. Check out Indre Studio's website at www.indrestudios.com I only found out about this a few days ago......A sold-out club show in June, the festival show this week, a special performance for WXPN......is any other city getting this much attention? It's good to be Philadelphian. I'll let everyone know how studio show goes... Hi, OK, ever since I heard Trailer Park for the first time I've been straining to understand those first lyrics of "She Cries Your Name". You know the ones I mean? The very first line. Does anyone know what she's singing? I've asked just about everyone I know and no one has a clue! help!!! :) Thanx, Chelsea ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Aug 1999 16:31:24 -0700 From: "R. Anthony Padilla" Subject: RE: what the heck is she singing??? Sounds like "falling from the western selves to find yourself alone again" which kinda makes sense if you know what the songs about. Beth said it was about her time as buddhist nun in asia, and her realizing that she didn't really belong in that culture, but didn't totally identify with western culture either. Why selves would be plural, I don't know. Maybe it's "yourselves" instead of "yourself" as well. But that's what I hear. You might need to create some kind of profile, but that's free. I've already got a my.yahoo.com profile, so I don't know how it works for people that don't. Check it out before the actual chat to make sure everything works out right. Yeah, slopes makes more sense, and I've seen other people transcribe the lyric as slopes. It just doesn't sound like slopes to me. But maybe she just needs to enunciate better or something. Or maybe it's my ears.
